How do I make Internet Explorer 7.0 my default browser?
Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 7.0 is quite different from previous versions of Internet Explorer. By default the Internet Explorer automatically verifies if it is the default browser each time it starts. If Internet document (HTML) files are associated with a different browser when Internet Explorer starts, It recognizes that it is not the default browser and prompts you to make it the default browser.
You can manually configure Internet Explorer as your default browser, follow the steps below. It is important to note that the configuration options are now located under the "tools" icon and are called "Internet Options":
Making Internet Explorer 7.0 the default browser
1. Start the Internet.
2. Click on the Tools menu.
3. Choose Internet Options.
4. The Internet Options Dialogue box appears.
5. Click on the tab along the top labeled Programs.

As you can see here, Internet Explorer already is my default browser, but if it wasn't
6. Clicking on Make default would make the Internet Explorer my default browser or you could just click on "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser",
7. Click "OK".
8. Restart your browser.
Make Internet Explorer 2.x the default browser
1. Start Internet Explorer. On the View menu, click Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Click to select the On startup, perform check for default browser check box.
4. Click OK.
5. Quit and re-start Internet Explorer.
6. Click Yes when you are prompted to make it the default browser.
Make Internet Explorer 3.x, 4.x, 5.x the default browser
1. Open Control Panel and double-click Internet Options.
2. Click the Programs tab.
3. Click to chose the Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser check box.
4. Click OK.
5. Start Internet Explorer and when you are prompted to make Internet Explorer the default browser, click Yes.
